On Tuesday night, Destini Dixon was crowned Miss Black and Gold 2010-2011 by the Beta Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. The immediate former queen, Pamela Robinson, will end her title holding on October 28, 2010 after being the Miss Black and Gold for a year.
“I’m excited about being Miss Black and Gold. All the contestants were outstanding and none of us knew who was going to win.” said Destini.
Interestingly, as Destini confessed, she was not sure if she would compete. However, she participated because of encouragement and coaching from her friends.
Destini, a biology major, is also a member of the Student Government Association as the public relations officer for the sophomore class. She also serves on the Judicial Board. As the new Miss Black and Gold, Destini said she would complete her duties and uphold the standard of the former queens before her and be an example for the others who will follow her.
