A Cane 4 A Day

In a big city like Raleigh there is always so much to do in what seems like so little time. Choices range from museums, festivals, concerts, parades, and clubs, to mention but a few. One activity I would like to do though before the season is over is attend an NHL hockey game. This is possible because we have the Carolina Hurricanes who play downtown at the RBC center. I never thought I would be promoting going to a hockey game, but I have now learned a few reasons why I should.

First of all, a great reason why people should attend a hockey game is because it is new and exciting to most African-Americans. I don’t know too many of us who watch hockey on a daily basis. This is most likely because hockey may not be appealing to us due to there not being many African Americans in the NHL, as well as many inner-city youth’s ability to purchase expensive hockey equipment at a young age. So going to a hockey game can be a great learning experience and a culture shock at the same time.

Next, a student should attend a Hurricanes game because the tickets are inexpensive and very affordable for just about anybody. Tickets can be found for about as low as $20 to get a seat up top. This means this would be a great place to go on a date, where you would be having fun and that you would be able to watch a professional sporting event. The overall atmosphere creates a positive fun environment for everybody.
