Ligon Students Work Hard

The young girls of Ligon GT Magnet Middle School are determined to make a success out of themselves. With G.P.A.’s ranging from 2.78-3.3, there is no doubt that these young kids are headed down a road of excellence. The young kids at Ligon Middle range from ages 12-15 and according to sixth- grade Language Arts teacher, Sherry Sims, the majority of them are placed on the academic honor roll and belong to many different clubs or after school activities. “As a whole, they are so smart. I always see a student in the library or on the main court with a book in their hand” said Sims.

Hard work and social life doesn’t always mix. Many of these students are still learning to adjust to middle school. “It can be hard sometimes because I don’t catch on so quick like everyone in my class but I put forth a lot of effort. I am an honors student. I just have to study more and cut down on my play time” said freshman, Danny Porter. According to senior, Kyrek Thomas, having a tough time adjusting was only a small worry. “I was more concerned about am I going to understand the work and will I make good friends. The faculty here is very understanding and they help you a lot” he said.
