Keeping them focused, Assistant Coach Ledbetter’s mission at the game

I recently had an opportunity to speak with Jeremy Ledbetter, Assistant Coach of the Shaw University men’s basketball team. Coach Ledbetter informed me that the basketball team is excited to be a part of this year’s CIAA tournament. They are preparing to play against St Augustine’s College at the Charlotte Bob Cats Arena. Five of the players will be playing in the CIAA for the second year in a row and are anticipating a victory after, coming so close to winning last year. After falling short by one game the current motto is “unfinished business.”

Shaw University was the pre-season pick to finish behind Winston Salem State University, and Johnson C. Smith University.
Shaw beat Johnson C. Smith at both the away and home games. Shaw also split a win with Winston Salem State University, winning the home game and losing the away game. Coach Ledbetter stated “there are great things going on with Shaw University’s basketball program”. He stated that his mission as Assistant Coach was to keep the players focused. This is Ledbetter’s second year as a Coach at Shaw University and he stated that it has been a great experience for him. He has always wanted to coach at a HBCU. The CIAA is a historic tradition. It is also the best Division Two Level Tournament. The recent addition of Winston Salem State and Johnson C. Smith is expected to bring even more fans to Charlotte, North Carolina.
