A Taste of Raleigh Barbeque Style

Downtown Raleigh has food from all over and people from all over come to enjoy. I am a big food critic I love food that has authentic taste, but I am true Southerner so barbeque has to be one of my favorites type of dishes. The BBQ restaurants downtown have everything that I could ask for and more. There are two BBQ restaurants downtown that I admire the most Coopers BBQ and The Pit. Coopers BBQ has been serving downtown Raleigh since 1938 and still going strong. They cater to parties and also to to corporations. They will cater to you or they will host at there restaurant downtown on 109 E. Davie Street. Coopers serves North Carolina  barbeque. North Carolina style barbeque involves cooking a whole hog on extremely low temperatures for many hours allowing the full potential of the meat to come out without drying out. They have combinations platters, dinners and take outs. They are in operation Monday thru Friday from 10-6 and Saturday From 10-6 closed on Sundays. One of the many questions that Coopers get asked is what makes their BBQ and catering so different? The response to  this question was “they have been in the business for over 70 years which has given us time to perfect our craft”. They also serve BBQ Ribs, fried chicken, BBQ chicken, with pork skins ,collards and many other southern vegetables. The Pit is located on 328 W. Davie Street . The Pit menu has more variety than Coopers they have starters to start you off if you are undecided on the many food choices to choose from. They also have four salads that you can choose from to go along with your dinner and. Under the specialties menu you can choose from catfish, burgers, chicken sand which or even BBQ tofu. They are serving BBQ lovers from 11:00 a.m. 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and Sunday they close at 9:00 p.m. They have been getting media attention for having some the best BBQ in Raleigh, North Carolina. These two BBQ restaurants are located on the same street while one is too the east and other two the west they serve the same purpose they keep us southerners full with that could southern food. There are more BBQ restaurants coming up downtown, but they will have to go another 50 some years to get the rave that the Pit and Coopers BBQ
