THE CIAA CHAMPS CELEBRATE
The reigning CIAA champs, Shaw University's men and women's teams, returned to their university glistening in pride and glory from the tournaments held in Charlotte North Carolina last week.
There has definitely been a difference in the air, and a renewed sense of Shaw pride across the students, faculty, and staff body at the University.
"With the sweep of the tournament, Shaw University has done something that no other CIAA program has ever done: win all three major sports championships – football, and men's and women's basketball – in the same athletic calendar year," Donal Ware reported on wralsoprtsfan. A Shaw alumni, Andre Haden, tweeted " I can say I am truly proud to be a Shaw alumni right now, first football, now basketball, it is the year of the bear, we are running C.I.A.A."
To celebrate, the men and women football and basketball teams along with many students, enjoyed a night of laughter, fun, and fellowship at karaoke night at a local sports bar and grill named Hi5 near the school. As the night was ending all Shaw students sang in harmony Queens "We are the Champions." This has been a beautiful beginning and finish to the football and basketball seasons and definitely a year to remember. We are praying for the same results for years and years to come.
